Luddite.

June 4, 2007

I finally bought a digital camera today. In combination with the fact that I am now over a very stressful period of assignments, I guess that means that you’re going to get to see some of the things I’ve been meaning to take photos of for a while, but haven’t, for the want of a camera.

And some things that really should have been captured with a scanner too, except that I don’t have one of them. And no plans to get one either.

New forum

April 19, 2007

I’m moving the Seraphiel forums to Fog Creek Software’s new Fogbugz-On-Demand service. It comes with an integrated bug tracking solution, so managing bugs and new feature requests will be a lot easier than before.

You don’t have to sign up or anything, just start posting :)
Even better, there are no ads ;)
The forums are now located at https://jivlain.fogbugz.com/default.asp?seraphiel

300 (hours)….

March 21, 2007

300 has been released; it’s a great movie…

…or so I’ve been told. You see, it hasn’t been released here yet. Indeed, it won’t be released here for a couple of weeks yet.

It’s not as though Australia is too far off the map. Yeah, it’s across the Pacific Ocean, and all, but the world is constantly getting smaller. And according to IMDB, it’s been out in the Phillipines for a fortnight. Gah?

Qantas offers me a choice of 14 flight plans from Los Angelas to Sydney each day, including several direct flights. Travel time ranges between 14 and 23 hours (depending on whether you have stop-overs or not). There is no technical reason why it takes a whole month for them to get around to releasing a movie to be released in Australia.

Any ideas?

They’re making a TV series of A Song of Ice And Fire, one of my favourite book series.

I just hope someone’s planning on showing it here in Australia. *sighs* Well, there’s always DVD…

Procrastinating over math homework

January 15, 2007

Attentive visitors may have noticed the “Procrastination Club Coming Soon” text near the top of the page. Accordingly, I figured I should post something about this, and it only took me 5 days. As an added bonus, I’m mostly posting it now because I can’t get to sleep.

We now have a formula for procrastination!
It looks a bit like this: Utility = E x V / ΓD.

To get a full explanation, instead of just a bunch of odd-looking letters, you’ll have to read the full article.

On another note, there remains the distinct possibility that at some point in the future, I may get around to going through and sorting out my various tags, updating the extension version of Seraphiel, or finally getting around to writing something in Python. But you never know.
